Job Description

BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our State Finance and Administration (F&A) Consulting Practice to provide IT and management consulting services to our state government F&A agency clients. The list of state government agencies we serve includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Departments of Finance and Administration such as human resources departments, offices of comptrollers/controllers and budget, and accounting and payroll departments
  • Departments of revenue (i.e., taxation)
  • Liquor boards/agencies
  • Central procurement departments
  • Central IT departments
  • Departments of insurance
  • Departments of labor and workers’ compensation
  • Departments of audit
  • Legislature
  • Departments of treasury

The senior consultant we are seeking to hire will travel across the country to manage client projects, and participate as needed in other project roles. These efforts require that the candidate come to us with experience professionally and formally managing both IT and other business-related projects.

 

The ideal candidate will located remotely in either the Midwest or West Coast. There is also potential to be placed in our Phoenix, Arizona office if desired by the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to potential client requests for proposals, through creating content (e.g., project budget, project schedule, and approach/experience) for responding proposals
  • Manage multiple client projects, providing services related to IT system implementations (e.g., assessing/procuring/planning/contracting, independent verification and validation [IV&V] services, and quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) services,
  • Manage multiple client projects, providing business/managerial related services (e.g., business process analysis/improvement services, IT and business strategic planning services, organizational change management [OCM] services—largely based on the Prosci® change management approach
  • Lead client and project stakeholder engagement efforts with support, guidance, and oversight from the F&A Practice Lead
  • Facilitate client and project stakeholder meetings
  • Develop project management artifacts for client projects (e.g., project budget, schedule, scope of work, status reports, project management plans)
  • Develop and finalize client deliverables and reports
  • Delegate (as appropriate) the development of client deliverables and execution of project tasks to project team members and provide continual monitoring and quality control over these efforts and work products
  • Participate in research and development initiatives related to trends amongst clients and the industries we serve

Travel Expectations: Although BerryDunn consultants are currently not travelling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately 50% travel to client sites is anticipated in the future to manage/support projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics, or related IT discipline
  • 4+ years of consulting, implementing IT systems, or related industry experience
  • Project Management Institute® Project Management Professional® (PMP) Certification or current qualifications to sit for the PMP exam (i.e., 3 years leading projects)
  • Demonstrated experience managing ERP system implementation projects, or other large systems used by state government agencies (e.g., liquor operations systems, procurement systems, and/or state taxation systems)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytic, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills for balancing multiple assignments and achieving quality results in a timely manner
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • A strong customer service oriented attitude
